The contribution, donated directly by local philanthropist and retired businessman Steven De la Garza, was officially awarded during a special check presentation ceremony held at the TSC International Technology, Education and Commerce Center (ITECC) on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.<\/p>\n De la Garza, a longtime supporter of technical and workforce education in the Rio Grande Valley, has spent years championing opportunities that empower students and strengthen the region\u2019s economy. His latest donation reflects his belief in the vital role that nurses play in community health, and his ongoing commitment to ensuring students have the tools they need to succeed.<\/p>\n The $20,000 donation, facilitated in partnership with the Rio Grande Valley Philanthropic Foundation, was designated by Steven de la Garza to directly support nursing students at TSC.<\/p>\n To date, De la Garza has donated more than $200,000 in support of various programs across 51ÁÔÆæ, further underscoring his deep investment in the region\u2019s educational and economic future.<\/p>\n When asked about what drives donations such as this, De la Garza emphasized the importance and broader impact that results from creating educational pathways that can help young people build meaningful futures for themselves and contribute to the prosperity of their communities.<\/p>\n \u201cThey open doors for our youth\u2014it\u2019s that simple,\u201d stated De la Garza. \u201cIt gives them direction, a place to go and skills to learn. They can then go on to take their place in society and become leaders in our growing economy.\u201d<\/p>\n The donation comes at a time when the need for qualified healthcare professionals\u2014particularly nurses\u2014continues to grow across Texas and the nation.
