The 51ÁÔÆæ Scorpions cross country program continued its inaugural season at the\u00a0University of the Incarnate Word Invitational\u00a0in San Antonio. The meet brought together elite-level competition, featuring Olympic-caliber athletes from programs such as the University of Texas at Austin, Texas State, and host Incarnate Word.<\/p>\n

Men’s Team: Cisneros Leads the Way<\/h2>\n

Freshman\u00a0Josue Cisneros<\/a><\/dfn><\/strong>\u00a0paced the men’s team in the 4-mile race, finishing with a time of\u00a021:11.9\u00a0and a\u00a05:18 mile pace. Cisneros’ effort marked continued progress from his debut at the\u00a0Seashore Invitational in Corpus Christi\u00a0earlier this season, demonstrating his ability to adjust and improve against high-caliber competition.<\/p>\n

Women’s Team: Ibarra Continues to Impress<\/h2>\n

Freshman\u00a0Indra Ibarra<\/a><\/dfn><\/strong>\u00a0led the women’s team with a time of\u00a022:28.9\u00a0in the 5k, averaging a\u00a07:14 pace. Building on her first outing at the Seashore Invitational, Ibarra has emerged as a consistent performer, setting the tone for the women’s squad as they navigate their first season.<\/p>\n

Building Experience in the First Season<\/h2>\n

While the Scorpions faced a stacked field, the UIW Invitational provided valuable experience that will serve the team well moving forward. Both the men’s and women’s squads showed clear improvement since their debut in August, underscoring the growth and potential of TSC’s first-ever cross country program.<\/p>\n

Looking Ahead: OLLU Invitational on October 11<\/h2>\n

The Scorpions will return to San Antonio for their next challenge at the\u00a0Our Lady of the Lake University Invitational on October 11. With each meet, TSC continues to build confidence, gain experience, and lay a strong foundation for the future of Scorpion cross country.<\/p>\n
