{"id":8716,"date":"2026-03-29T19:01:20","date_gmt":"2026-03-29T19:01:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tsc.edu\/news\/?p=8716"},"modified":"2026-03-30T19:02:13","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T19:02:13","slug":"texas-southmost-college-to-host-spring-2026-skills-camp-with-porter-high-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tsc.edu\/news\/2026\/03\/texas-southmost-college-to-host-spring-2026-skills-camp-with-porter-high-school\/","title":{"rendered":"51ÁÔÆæ to Host Spring 2026 Skills Camp with Porter High School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_row column_structure=&#8221;3_5,2_5&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;3_5&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; link_text_color=&#8221;#F6892B&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><em>BROWNSVILLE, Texas<\/em> \u2014 51ÁÔÆæ\u2019s Industrial Maintenance and Robotics Lab will welcome local high school students this spring for an immersive, hands-on learning experience aimed at building advanced technical skills and industry-recognized credentials.<\/p>\n<p>The Spring 2026 Skills Camp with Porter High School will bring students into TSC\u2019s Advanced Manufacturing and Robotics Automation (AMRA) Lab, where they will engage in practical activities and work toward earning the Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) Gold Certification in Pneumatics.<\/p>\n<p>Juan Rivera, TSC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsc.edu\/academics-and-career-programs\/business-engineering-architecture-and-technology\/construction-manufacturing-transportation-and-technology\/industrial-mechanics-and-maintenance-technology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Industrial Mechanics and Maintenance Technology (IMMT)<\/a> Program Coordinator, said the event is designed to bridge classroom learning with real-world applications.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the camp, students will participate in hands-on skill activities in the AMRA Lab, and we\u2019ll be challenging our Dual Practicum class to earn the SACA Gold Certification in Pneumatics,\u201d Rivera said.<\/p>\n<p>The certification process is rigorous and requires students to demonstrate both theoretical knowledge and technical proficiency. Participants must complete three individual exams at their workstations, where they identify pneumatic symbols and correctly assemble systems based on detailed diagrams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe objective is for students to obtain the SACA Gold Level Certification in Pneumatics,\u201d Rivera explained. \u201cThese exams require students to apply what they\u2019ve learned by identifying symbols and connecting diagrams according to given specifications.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Before attempting the gold-level credential, students must first pass the <strong>silver-level certification<\/strong>, a foundational requirement that ensures they understand core pneumatic concepts.<\/p>\n<p>Rivera, who is certified to administer the credential, earned his qualification last December through training at a SACA-authorized center. He emphasized the value of these industry certifications for students entering technical careers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSACA certifications validate both knowledge and hands-on skills. When students successfully complete the written exam and performance assessments, they demonstrate they are workforce-ready,\u201d Rivera said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to student engagement, SACA also supports educators through professional development.
